Captain Vijayakanth, also known as Vijayakant, is an actor and the founder of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK). He has experienced a health setback. On November 18, the 71-year-old was brought into a city private hospital.
His health has slightly declined over the past 24 hours, according to a medical bulletin released by Miot Hospital on Wednesday.
“Mr. Vijayakanth was making significant progress. But during the past day, he had some mild deterioration that called for a minimal amount of pulmonary support. The bulletin stated, “We remain optimistic that he will make a full recovery.
It added that Vijayakanth would possibly be staying in the hospital for a period of 14 days.
A week ago, the hospital released a bulletin stating that Vijayakanth was responding positively to his treatment for fever sickness, was stable, and was able to perform all of his bodily functions on his own.
It was also mentioned that he would be prepared to return home and carry on with his regular activities following a few days of observation.
On social media, celebrities from the film industry and political figures wished Vijayakanth a speedy recovery after learning about his health.
Captain Vijayakanth, as he was affectionately called, was well-known for his intense dialogue and action scenes in his films. In 2006, he launched his own political party and ran for office in the Assembly.
In the 2011 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, he reversed the trend by forming an alliance with the AIADMK. His party became the main opposition in the state after securing 29 seats and placing DMK in a distant third.
Following his party’s humiliations in the next elections, Vijaykanth’s health took a turn for the worse, and he finally stopped attending public events.
