A six-inch pipe has been installed into the debris by rescue agencies operating around the clock to free the 41 workers who are trapped inside a partially collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district. This is a significant breakthrough. This pipe will guarantee improved communication and assist the authorities in giving the stranded workers substantial food. The media was informed by NHIDCL director Anshu Mansish Khalkho that workers could communicate with rescue personnel via the recently installed pipe.

“Our first priority was to achieve our first breakthrough, which we have been working toward for the past nine days. We can be heard through a 6-inch pipe that has been installed by the workers who are trapped. Through that pipe, we will now give them food and medical supplies,” he declared.
NHIDCL, or the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, is one of the many government organizations involved in this massive undertaking.

Two robots are participating in the operation, according to the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

“DRDO sent two robots, 20 kg and 50 kg in weight, respectively. The ground is where the robots move. There are concerns about whether or not the robots will be able to move there due to the uneven terrain. In a day or two, more equipment will arrive,” he continued.

Wherever it is needed, he said, the Border Road Organization is building roads.

“BRO is building roads on this end as well as the Barkot end wherever they are needed. Both sides of the roads are prepared; the only thing missing is the equipment. The machines can’t be airlifted because they are so heavy,” he continued.
