What’s in the trailer

The teaser takes us to the made-up city of Khansaar, where invaders dubbed “more dangerous than Mahmud of Ghazni and Genghis Khan” have taken control. The city’s heir apparent is Prithviraj Sukumaran—that is, until the invaders launch a forceful attack and seize control.

Afterwards, Prithviraj calls upon his childhood buddy Deva (portrayed by Prabhas), who made a vow to always defend him and his people. After that, Deva goes back to Khansaar to seize the throne and exact revenge on his closest friend.

The trailer also features brief appearances by Jagapathi Babu and Shruti Haasan. In this action entertainer, which is yet another two-hero pan-Indian film similar to SS Rajamouli’s tentpole from last year RRR, which starred Ram Charan and Jr NTR, Prabhas and Prithviraj are seen teaming up and packing a punch.

About Salaar

The same technical crew from the popular KGF series is involved in this massive project, which is produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films. Prabhas is working with director Prashanth Neel for the first time. Both have recently wrapped up massive blockbusters, Adipurush and KGF: Chapter 2, respectively.

With 14 enormous sets built in and around Ramoji Film City, the movie promises to be grandiose like nothing you’ve ever seen on a big screen.

On December 22, Salaar—which is being produced in five languages—will open in theaters in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi. It will compete with Shah Rukh Khan‘s Bollywood film Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
