Bayern Munich suffered a 1-0 loss to Werder Bremen at home when they returned from winter break, leaving them feeling down.
Midway through the first quarter, Justin Njinmah raced through a one-on-one after a quick turnover, giving the visitors the impression that they had taken the lead. Bayern could consider themselves fortunate, though, as a goal was disallowed due to a foul in the build-up following a VAR review.
Bayern struggled to establish a rhythm and generate any meaningful chances in the first half, which ended in a frustrating draw.
Following the interval, Bayern maintained their dominance of the ball but appeared helpless in front of goal. When Mitchell Weiser, against the flow of play, found a gap in the box and blasted the ball into the roof of the net to give Bremen the lead, the hosts were left speechless.
In an attempt to save Bayern, Tuchel went to his bench of replacements, but Bremen’s defense held firm. Bayern lacked any kind of bite, and the game slipped out of their grasp outside of a few Harry Kane half chances and some outstanding saves from Michael Zetterer.
With three more points, Bremen moves up to 20, nine clear of Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen, who leads the 32-time winners by seven points now.

Despite having a game remaining, the Bundesliga winners are now seven points behind Leverkusen, who are led by Xabi Alonso, as a result of this outcome.
This afternoon, Bayern Munich appeared weak and hesitant, far from being the league champions. Even with the rumors of more signings, Bayern will need to put in a major effort—which is certainly not impossible—to win this championship. Leverkusen is gradually starting to feel like this could be their year as each week goes by and they continue to win.

To keep his clean sheet and exert strong control over his area, the goalie, however, made some incredible late saves. When Zetterer palmed a bullet header from Mathys Tel onto the post in the final moments, it looked like Bremen’s day. An earned victory and clean sheet.
