Argentina, the reigning champions, will play Brazil on Wednesday, November 22 at 6 a.m. IST at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium. September of this year marked the beginning of the CONMEBOL region’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, which will last until September of 2025. Up until their 0-2 loss to Uruguay on November 17, Argentina had gone undefeated in the qualifying round. Brazil has won two of their last five games, losing to Uruguay and Colombia and drawing one-all with Venezuela.
Under new coach Fernanod Diniz, Brazil is beset by injury and will be without Neymar, Vinicius Junior, and defensive midfielder Casemiro. However, teenage striker Endrick may make an appearance after being called up to the team.
After losing to Uruguay, Lionel Messi is anticipated to start and look to bounce back in the competition.
