On Thursday, the Bandra police registered two separate cases against unidentified persons in connection with mobile theft. A 23-year-old photographer for a national newspaper filed the first complaint, the official said.
According to the photographer’s complaint, he and friends had come to the Bandra Bandstand and joined the crowd outside Mannat. The officer said in the complaint that the complainant came to know that the mobile phone kept in his pocket was missing around 12.30 pm. The complainant learned that many people had lost their phones as their mobiles went missing. He had gone to the Bandra police station to complain about the theft. Later, many fans who lost their phones came to the station to file similar complaints. The police collected the complaints and registered an FIR for theft against unknown persons, the police official said.
Police said another FIR was registered on the complaint of a 24-year-old resident of Parel in central Mumbai. A total of 17 fans’ mobiles have been reported to the police. Every year, thousands of fans flock to Mannat to wish him on his birthday on November 2. Heavy security was deployed outside Mannat to prevent any untoward incident. Despite the security arrangements, thieves took advantage of the huge crowd and stole the phones, the official said.
