During the rally in Naya Nagar, two groups got into a fight over a small altercation. In spite of initial worries, the police made it clear that the incident was a dispute between two groups rather than an instance of communal violence. Given the importance of the Ram Temple inauguration, the situation could have escalated, but the Mira Bhayandar – Vasai Virar (MBVV) police moved quickly to diffuse it.

Jayant Bajbal, DCP (Zone I), urged people not to believe rumors and reassured the public that no communal flare-up had been reported. Since then, the police have opened a comprehensive investigation into the incident, looking through CCTV footage to find and detain any additional suspects.

The Maharashtra government declared January 22 to be a state holiday, coinciding with the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The event involved increased security measures, such as the deployment of commandos from the Anti-Terrorist Squad.

Following the altercation, Fadnavis ordered the Police Commissioner to act promptly, which led to the apprehension of thirteen individuals. Additionally, he kept in close contact with the Mira Bhayander Commissioner of Police until the early hours of the day after the incident, making sure that the guilty parties faced severe consequences.

“Police were told to prosecute the offenders with the utmost severity. 13 people have been taken into custody thus far, and thorough CCTV footage analysis is being done to find and apprehend additional suspects.” Fadnavis

“Anyone attempting to disrupt the law and order situation in Maharashtra by taking the law into their own hands will face zero tolerance,” stated Devendra Fadnavis.
